Hillsborough Virtual School (HVS) is a school choice option for students entering grades K-12. HVS students are served by Highly Qualified Hillsborough County teachers for each class online. Students log in, receive curriculum, complete assignments, and take quizzes and tests online. They have full access to their teachers for each subject, who they can talk to via email, phone, instant message, or virtual classroom. We offer online courses to eligible students in a variety of ways:

Full-time: HVS full-time students are public school students, so they must take a full schedule, stay on pace, follow the pupil progression plan for the district, and take state/district mandated tests. Additionally, students can earn a Hillsborough County high school diploma.

Co-enrolled: Students are enrolled in other schools (public or private) and take classes online—during or in addition to their school day. Class selection and registration is handled by the guidance counselor at the student’s physical school.

Credit Recovery: Students may use HVS to retake classes where they made a poor grade. Class selection and registration is handled by the guidance counselor at the student’s physical school.

Home Education Students: Families who file a “Letter of Intent to Home Educate” may use HVS to fulfill curriculum needs.
